Our first presentation at a quilt show is the Road 2 California in Ontario, California in January 2014. What a nice independent show. So glad to be a part of it. This is us all dressed for our presentation wearing my new dress.

Floral Quilt Blocks

We took the ferry across Lake Michigan and came down into Indiana for an RV rally in Goshen, Indiana. This is the heart of Amish Country. The Amish will not allow the  painted quilt blocks to adorn their barns, but instead plant beautiful gardens of quilt patterns.

The time it must take to plan, plant, and maintain these floral quilt blocks could be equivalent to what we do with material and thread. I have posted the quilt block at the campground and the information about it. There are about 17 of these "blocks" throughout the Amish Country in Indiana each year.

Wisconsin Quilt Show

Right after Labor Day  Wisconsin holds a statewide quilt show in Madison at the Convention Center. Nancy Zieman and Wisconsin PBS sponsor this show. Jennifer Chiaverini, author of the Elmwood Quilt books, also lives in Madison and is a guest speaker there.

We heard Jennifer Chiaverini speak about the quilts for her book, The Union Quilters. Here is the quilt made up in 2 different colors. What a difference this makes.

Quilters on the Move

Purdue University

IMG 0646

As an alumni of Purdue, I am a devoted fan and always glad to be back on campus. We happened to hit the first week of classes and it was exciting to be on campus.

This stop was actually quilt related also. Dr. Carol Hopkins is a professor in the College of Education and a friend of ours. She designs Civil War quilt patterns. Look for her at

Indiana State Fair

We went to the fair for me to play in the Purdue Alumni Pep Band last Fri. While there we checked out the quilts. Several cabinets of quilts with winning ribbons plus many hanging overhead.
